Virginia State Troopers Interview
Questionnaire from St. Clare Walker TSA club members to Virginia State Troopers: Senior Trooper Benson, Senior Probate Officer Marshall and Master Trooper Wyatt.
We interviewed Senior Trooper Benson, Senior Probate Officer Marshall and Master Trooper Wyatt. These troopers are stationed in Gloucester VA and know a lot of the new technologies in the state. Below are the interview questions that we asked the state tropers.
1. How has technology impacted your job?
It has definitely made it easier; especially being able to communicate quickly with radios and being able to run background checks
from the front seat of the car.
2. In your point of view, what is the most beneficial technology in your work area?
Some of the most beneficial technologies are cellphones, radios, computers, and believe it or not, social media like Facebook and
Twitter.
3. What are the positive impacts of technology on our society?
Some positive impacts are: we can create accident reports on the spot using the computer; we can contact each other
quickly using our cellphones; and criminals will sometimes get cocky and post what they are doing and where they are on
Facebook .
4. What are the negative impacts of technology on our society?
Some of the negative effects of technology are that criminals have the same if not better computers than us, they may also have a
network where if one person sees us then they immediately use there cellphone to tell them to "get out of here, they're coming."
5. In your view, what are three of the most important technologies in law enforcement?
In our view, the most important are probably cellphones, computers, and the social media.
6. Have any new technologies had effect on any police tactics?
Yes, criminals are getting more up to date with the same new technologies we have and are learning how to avoid us.
