Deputy Benjamin Langford is a deputy in our county. He uses law enforcement technologies on a daily basis while on duty. In the video above he tells us about some of the new technologies that have recently been released and their benefits. In the video, Deputy Langford addressed the emerging technologies in his division of law enforcement.
1. How do you think "To Protect and Serve" has changed with technological advances?
We now have new equipment, tools, and advancements in forensic science.
2. How has technology impacted your job?
It has made it better in certain areas and has made it difficult in some ways.
3. In your point of view, what is the most beneficial technology in your work area?
Some of the most beneficial technologies include laptops and radios in vehicles, cellphones, and body armor.
4. What are the positive impacts of technology on our society?
Most people have cell phones so that if they are in need they can easily contact 911 or another emergency number.
Some people have Life Alert or another sort of contact device.
5. What are the negative impacts of technology on our society?
Some of the negative effects of technology are that criminals have radios and can listen to where and what we are doing.
Some people also carry radar detectors on their cars and will avoid our radars.
6. In your view, what are four of the most important technologies in law enforcement?
I think that four of the most important technologies are body armor, weapons, vehicles, and computers.
7. Have any new technologies had effect on any police tactics?
Yes, criminals are getting more up to date with the same new technologies we have and are learning procedures.
